We Can
by Pastor Ronald Boelte
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and
you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and
to the ends of the earth."
In this passage God is calling His people to boldly walk as His
missionaries in all the places we will be in our lives. With a joy and
delight the world could never produce, we are CAN people, free to explore
new ways of engaging an ever-changing culture and world for Christ as His
witnesses.
----Acts 1:8
Our purpose for the next four weeks is to look at our church and to
revitalize our congregational leaders and congregations to look beyond
survival with a missional vitality and purposeful future.
We may be three small congregations, but we do have a ministry role for
our rural/small town communities. We need to honor and restore a positive
attitude among God's people in our congregations, and to help each of us
explore avenues for building up our relationships with each other and with
others in our communities. Nurturing open and honest communication between
each of us as we look for ways to better serve our churches and the
communities we live in.
Each of us need to focus more on our service as we also strive to reach
others with the message of our Lord, and Savior; Jesus Christ in our
communities.
Our hope is that each of us will become more missional in all of our
activities in church as will as outside the church. As Jesus tells each of
us in Acts passage above, each of us are His witnesses where ever we are.
On a separate paper you will find six questions we need to ask and answer
if we are to become more missional as a congregation and as individuals.
My suggestion is to put it someplace were you will see them every day to
help you in becoming more mission minded in your own life.
