Dinner Time

by Shannon Hunter

Are you hungry?

Good! Because we have a Super-Sized, Thin & Crispy, Hot & Spicy, Hold the Onions, Finger Lickin’ good time planned for Vacation Bible School. The dates for Lone Wolf are July 17th through the 21st, Saturday, July 22 in Altus and Elk City will be Saturday, July 29th

Our Vacation Bible School is the time to feed yourself and the kids of the community. This year’s Bible School is based on cooking and the blessings that we get from eating. I am not talking about actual food. I am talking about Spiritual food. We are Super-Sized when Jesus feeds the 5,000, Thin & Crispy when God provides the quail and manna, Hot & Spicy when the Israelites drink the golden calf, Holding the Onions when Martha learns to feed her spirit and not to spread herself in thin layers, and it is Finger Lickin’ when Jesus cooks breakfast. Everyone can help prepare this fabulous feast? How would you like to be the chefs and help spread the sweet taste to others, " How sweet are your words to my taste sweeter than honey to my mouth," Psalm 119:103.

If you don’t think that you are a good chef, there are openings for waiters, waitresses, maitre’d, dishwashers and even hungry guests, that will help in story telling, crafts, music, snacks, games, guides, decorations, and promotion. The story teller will teach and act out the main point of the lesson. The craft will reinforce the story point and give the kids a visual project that they can take home and talk about. The music leader will help the kids learn songs so that they can praise God. Snacks and games will help the kids get to know people in our church and strengthen relationships among kids and adults. The guides will guide the kids not just to the next area, but in any questions that they might have. To add to the excitement, we will need decorations that deal with food and cooking. Just as Jesus has prepared a Five Star home for us in heaven, we can really make this place look like a Five-Star restaurant that will show the kids just how special we think they are. We need help with promotion such as writing radio, T.V and newspaper ads. We also ask you to talk about it to friends and family. Please volunteer to help this year and spread God’s love and Word to the kids of our communities. Just call the church office to ‘apply’.
