Are you still keeping those New Year's Resolutions?
by Mona Hunter
How's it going? Is your resolve still firm in keeping your resolutions?
Besides changing your diet or committing to getting exercise, or taking
vitamins or such, did you make any resolutions about your spiritual life?
Maybe you want to pray and study more, or go to church more regularly or
give more offering or treat someone who irritates you in a more
Christ-like manner? Whatever it may be, we all have good intentions, but
most of us fail— or at least falter.
There is Good News, however. God does not falter in His resolve
to help us. We read in Isaiah 40:28-31 "Do you not know? Have you
not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the
earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can
fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the
weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar
on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and
not be faint.
God is willing to help us in any effort that honors Him. So
check your resolutions. Are they Godly? If so, turn your efforts over to
Him. "Have you not heard? . . . The Creator of the ends of the
earth," wants to help you!!
