The Opportunity for Giving
By Pastor Ronald Boelte
The appeals for your money is a never ending process. I don’t know
about you, but I get in the mail calls for help almost every day. Most of
them are honest and worthy causes and yet there is no way I can give to
all of them. What can I do? If you are like me, most end up in my trash
can, but how do you decide which charities you will support? It’s not
easy and I am sure that most of us wish we could do more.
Today we will be talking about giving, especially to missions. There
are many different organizations out there that could use help, but one
thing is certain that in the LCMS our giving especially to missions is way
down. That means that they have had to pull out of the mission fields a
lot of our missionaries. For some like Chuck we see them raising their own
funds from public and private sectors to help fund them being in a foreign
country.
Giving to LCMS missions is simple and can be done in a variety of ways.
One way is to make a check out to LCMS World Missions and send it
to:
LCMS World Missions
1333 South Kirkwood Rd.
St. Louis, MO 63122
Another way is to make a check out and mark it missions and let your
church handle the work for you. If you want to help a specific Missionary
like Chuck Burnett, you make the check out payable to LCMS World
Missions, and on the memo line write Chuck Burnett Taiwan. Then
send the check to:
LCMS World Mission
