Join Hands Day 2005
by Mona Hunter

On May 7, 21 people and youth
plus little children gathered in Altus at Faith Lutheran Church to
clean-up and re-gravel the play ground. It was a big job. Join
Hands Day is an annual day of service to bring youth and adults together
to plan, organize and implement an activity to help improve their own
communities.

This special day is sponsored
by America’s fraternal benefit societies, including Thrivent Financial
for Lutherans in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation and the
Volunteer Center National Network.
Twenty-one volunteers from the 55th ARS
(Air Force), the Lone Wolf Community Youth Group and members of Faith and
St. John’s Lutheran Churches worked together to make the playground at
Faith in Altus a wonderful place for the children to play

When our plans of borrowing a
Bobcat fell through, RSC Rental Equipment Company,
donated one to us for the whole day.
Thrivent also gave a special
gift of $1000 to the Mother’s Day Out program for participating in Join
Hands Day. Scott Schaefer is our Thrivent representative and would love to
talk to you about what Thrivent has to offer in the way of financial and
other benefits. He can be reached at 405-348-2371.
