Monday

Read: 2 Kings 2

Meditation: Much happens in these first few verses of Elisha's ministry. He sees Elijah taken by God, he parts the Jordan River, he makes a towns water safe and wholesome, and a group of 42 boys who were mocking him are soon attacked and killed by two she-bears. Elisha really does have a double portion of Elijah's spirit

Prayer Starter: Focus on  Psalm 117  for your prayers today.

Tuesday

Read: 2 Kings 4

Meditation: In this chapter we see many different ways that God provides for those in need. First the oil for the Shunammite woman, then a barren woman is given a son who later dies and then is raised from the dead, a poisonous pottage is made edible and finally the feeding of a hundred men from limited resources.

Prayer Starter: Focus on  Psalm 111  for your prayers today.

Wednesday

Read: 2 Kings 5

Meditation: This is probably the best known story of Elisha's ministry and miracles. Naaman of Aram is a leper and is told by a captive Israelite slave of the great prophet in Israel. He seeks out the prophet and is told to go bathe in the Jordan seven times to be cured. He wants to reward Elisha but it is refused. However, a dishonest servant, Gehazi, goes to Naaman to ask for the reward. Gehazi is afflicted with Naaman's leprosy.

Prayer Starter: Focus on  2 Corinthians  for your prayers today.

Thursday

Read: 2 Kings 6-7

Meditation: God's grace is seen by many different people in today's reading. First the prophets by causing a iron ax to float, then the people are saved by the blinding of the enemy, then all of Israel is saved by the intervention of God on their behalf. God's grace is for all of life's challenges. As you read, think about your greatest need or concern then entrust it to Your Lord.

Prayer Starter: Focus on  Psalm 34  for your prayers today.

Friday

Read: 2 Kings 13:1-20

Meditation: As you read today look for evidence of the Lord's grace toward the Northern Kingdom who was idolatrous and unbelieving in the true God. King Jehoash come to Elisha on his death bed and asks a miracle from his enemies. God is willing to provide, but Jehoash stops short of what God was willing to do.

Prayer Starter: Focus on  Proverbs 21:3  for your prayers today.

Saturday

Read: 2 Kings 13:20-21

Meditation:
Verse 21 shows us the truth that death itself must bow to the power of our God. This resurrection serves as a reminder of the Lord's promise to defeat death by the work of His messiah. Because of Jesus we can say with Confidence, "I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." (Ps. 23:6)

Prayer Starter: Focus on  Psalm 23  for your prayers today.
