Monday

Read: Genesis 5

Meditation: As you read this chapter try to focus on what it is saying about death. Also look closely to the verses that talk about Enoch. Why was he different? Why did God take him without him having to die? What does it mean to "walk with God"? While the answer to all these questions may not be real clear to us, one thing is very clear: God and Enoch walked together. This is the same relationship that God used to have in the garden with Adam before he fell into sin. It is the same relationship God wants to have with us.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to have a relationship with You in which we can walk together.

Tuesday

Read: 1 Chronicles 1:1-4

Meditation: We do not learn much more about Enoch in this account. However, here we see the line from Adam forward. This ancestoral line will be important when looking at the book of Luke tomorrow.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to see that the mention of these names in the Bible is important, and that God had a plan for them and that He has a plan for me and my life.

Wednesday

Read: Luke 3:23-38

Meditation: When we looked at Chronicles we saw a list of names. Today we also see a list of names. This list now becomes important because Jesus is in that list of names. In fact that list starts with Jesus and goes back through time to Enoch, and eventually to Adam and to God. Enoch was a part of the line that Jesus would come through.

Prayer Starter: Lord, Enoch walked with You, but he was also a part of the promise that would give us the promise of being able to walk with You also. Thank You Lord.

Thursday

Read: Hebrews 11:5-6

Meditation: At last we learn some more about Enoch. He was a man of faith, and he was a man that pleased God. Because of that God took him to live with him and he did not die as all others have to die. He must have been someone special to God.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to be someone special and to have the faith I need to please You.

Friday

Read: Jude 1

Meditation: Jude discusses many different things in this book, but he does mentioned that Enoch had prophesied about those who would not follow God and that God would send His holy ones to judge everyone and those who were not followers would be convicted of the ungodly acts and condemned.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to be the one that is a follower of You so that I will be judged in a way that will bring me salvation.

Saturday

Read: Genesis 4:16-18

Meditation:
There is one other Enoch that is mentioned in the Bible. This Enoch was the son of Cain, and that line is not continued for long for after the flood it would not exist anymore. Do not confuse this Enoch with the one that "Walked with God."

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to be more like Enoch, the one that walked with You. As I go through this life let me also walk with You, and let me live my life in faith.
