Monday

Read: Luke 13:32-35

Meditation: "On the 1st day of Christmas my True Love gave to me: a Partridge in a pear tree."

What does this mean? First, our true love is God, and God loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to this earth to be born to the virgin Mary. The partridge will decoy predators to get them away from her helpless nestlings, just as Jesus came to get in between us and Satan. He is the one that gave up His life so that we could be saved.

Prayer Starter: Christ on His way to Jerusalem shows His sadness over all of humanity. His desire is to shelter us, but for many that does not happen. Lord, help me to be one that will accept Your shelter.

Tuesday

Read: Luke 8:21

Meditation: "On the 2nd day of Christmas my True Love gave to me: Two Turtle doves."

Our true love has given to us the Old and New Testaments. These tell the story of God's relationship to this world. It bears witness to God's love and mercy as we read about His interaction with us, His people.

Prayer Starter: Jesus tells us that we are one of His when we hear God's Word and put it into practice. Lord help me to hear Your Word and be one that puts it into practice.

Wednesday

Read: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Meditation: "On the 3rd day of Christmas my True Love gave to me: Three French Hens."

Our true love gives to us the three theological virtues: faith, hope, and love. I have also heard some say it is for the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to use the faith, hope, and love You give me to help others.

Thursday

Read: Luke 1:1-4

Meditation: "On the 4th day of Christmas my True Love gave to me: Four Calling Birds."

Our true love gives us the four gospels which proclaim the good news of Jesus, and how He has reconciled the world to God.

Prayer Starter: Lord I thank You for the gospels which tell me of Your love for me through Your Son Jesus.

Friday

Read: Exodus 2:23

Meditation: "On the 5th day of Christmas my True Love gave to me: Five Gold Rings."

Our true love has given to us the first five books of the Old Testament. The books tell the history of humanity's sinful failure and how God responded with grace to the people of the world.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I know Your love for this world's people is beyond our understanding. Help me to love others as You have loved me.

Saturday

Read: Genesis 1

Meditation:
"On the 6th day of Christmas my True Love gave to me: Six Geese A-laying."

Our true love tells us of the six days of creation, which shows Him as the creator of this world and the One who sustains it for us to use.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to see the world as a precious gift, and help me to take care of it in a way that benefits all of humanity.
