Jesus in the Gospel of Luke tells a Parable about a wedding feast. In this parable Jesus shows us that God holds nothing back when it comes to inviting people to the wedding feast of His Son. This actually may appear reckless to us, but God's love and openness in inviting all of us is because of His great love. We see this love in John 3:16-17: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

In this wedding feast we see so many rejecting the invitation. Many say they are too busy, others are indifferent or too self-centered to come. God invites— no, almost compels–all to come to His banquet and He holds nothing back. He is not looking for those who can make the cut, but rather those who can be added to the list. What an amazing picture of God that this parable shows to us. God is intent on one thing—He wants His house to be full. Nothing will deter Him. No excuses, no matter how lame or personal, will discourage Him. Some will still turn Him down, but He will still continue to invite.

What about us? What excuses have we used to hear more about this loving God, and how do I reach out to witness to those who need to hear of the invitation?

In this week's readings we will be seeing scripture tell us that we are called to go and invite others to the wedding feast of our Lord and Savior.
