Ablaze! What a mission to undertake in our congregations! As Christians
we often wonder how to get people informed about the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, but many of us just can’t come up with any good ideas. Here is
our chance!
The LCMS (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod) has developed a mission
program, focusing on reaching 100 million people worldwide with the Gospel
of Jesus Christ. How exciting that would be if that mission were actually
accomplished! If the angels in heaven rejoice about one single soul coming
to Christ, think of the party that would ensue if 100 million came to
Christ! We may ask, "What can I do to help fulfill this goal?"
Well, the LCMS has broken it down into separate, but equally important,
goals: 50 million in the U.S. and 50 million outside the U.S. In other
words, the message that we bring to our communities will help reach the
synodical goal of 50 million people nationwide. With that in mind, let’s
get started!
In order for us to be effective, we have to first of all form a strong
personal relationship with God. We have to learn who God is, who
matters to Him, and what He wants us to do with the knowledge that we
attain about Him. All these things are what our devotions are about this
week. As you read the scriptures and the meditations this week, focus on
what God is teaching you about Himself, as well as how to use what He is
teaching you about Himself. This is the very important first step in our Ablaze
program, as we carry it out with the hope of as we learn more about our
Father, we will be able to set our churches and communities Ablaze!
with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
