Monday

Read: John 5-6

Meditation: As you read today you will see great comfort and encouragement given to believers. In chapter five there are at least four witnesses that testify that Jesus is the Son of God, and in chapter six look to see how often Jesus promises to give the gift of eternal life to those who believe in Him. Hint: there are at least ten.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I am so grateful for all of the promises You have given to me through Your love and grace.

Tuesday

Read: John 7-8

Meditation: Chapter 7 starts out with Jesus going to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. This feast reminded the people how God had provided for their ancestors in the wilderness wanderings. Jesus uses this to talk about Himself and how we can come to Him and He will provide for us what is needed.

Prayer Starter: Lord, You have always promised to provide for me. Help me to see when I need Your help.

Wednesday

Read: John 9-10

Meditation: Opposition: the other three Gospels tell us of it, but in John's gospel we see the hatred that blinds His enemies from the truth He proclaims. Jesus speaks words of Law to those unrepentant and sweet grace to those who recognize their sin and their need for a Savior.

Prayer Starter: God, You truly are a giver of all things. Help me to be like You in this way today.

Thursday

Read: John 11-12

Meditation: The Word of God was never intended to be read like you would any other book, especially philosophy text or self-improvement text. Jesus is the Word and the Bible is the revelation of who Jesus is and what He had done for us. We should read this Word to encourage and strengthen our hearts.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I know that one day You will speak my name like You did Lazarus and just like Lazarus I will rise from the dust of death to life.

Friday

Read: John 13-14

Meditation: Jesus knows what is coming. His words are those spoken from the view of His coming death. As He spent Holy Wednesday with His disciples, He chose His words carefully. Read them with care.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to keep on trusting in You and what You have done for me.

Saturday

Read: John 15

Meditation:
Jesus is spending His last night with His disciples, and giving them their last instructions. Read them carefully as you consider His words.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to focus on Your words to me.
