Monday

Read: Luke 10

Meditation: Joy is a word that appears often in Luke's gospel. Today you will read of an event that brought great joy to Jesus and His followers. Look for it as you read.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I thank You that my name is inscribed in heaven along with all of God's saints.

Tuesday

Read: Luke 11-12

Meditation: Jesus' ministry is picking up momentum, and the crowds are getting bigger and bigger. However, the more He taught greater became His opposition. Jesus often spoke words of judgment to all that oppose Him.

Prayer Starter: O God, I often do not come to You in prayer. Help me to see that You do want me to pray, even though You already know everything I already need.

Wednesday

Read: Luke 13

Meditation: Jesus is traveling towards Jerusalem to die for our sin, but while on the way He teaches about the kingdom and He heals the sick. It did not matter who you were. What He has to offer is for all.

Prayer Starter: Lord, You have given me a part to play in extending Your kingdom. Help me to see what role I play in Your kingdom!

Thursday

Read: Luke 14

Meditation: Jesus' sermons and stories often cut to the heart where our pride, hypocrisy, and greed try to hide. We try to hide them, but our Lord knows and sees all of them.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to set my priorities. Help me to see that my time spent with You should always be first in my life.

Friday

Read: Luke 15-16

Meditation: Luke gives more of the parables that Jesus taught than any other gospel writer. Today you will read several of my favorite parables, but there is one that is quite difficult. Can you pick it out?

Prayer Starter: Father, in these parables we see the love You have for all of us. You are running towards the son that did not deserve to be loved. We can relax in Your unconditional, forgiving love (15:22-24).

Saturday

Read: Luke 17-18

Meditation:
Do not forget the big picture as you read the individual accounts and parables in these chapters. Jesus is traveling to Jerusalem to die for our sins, and He is preparing His disciples to continue with the ministry after His ascension. What a help this can be when we read this context in this light.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I know that to have fervent, persistent prayer is a gift from You. Lord I ask You now to give me this gift.
