Monday

Read: Mark 9

Meditation: Mark tells us that Jesus changes His ministry focus at this point. Up to now Jesus has focused on the multitudes, now however He begins to work with His disciples as He prepares them for His suffering and death and the work they will carry on in His name after His ascension into heaven. As you read look for the shift in this chapter.

Prayer Starter: Jesus, You have truly served me in all ways. Help me to notice the opportunities You give me to serve others.

Tuesday

Read: Mark 10

Meditation: As you read this chapter you will see Jesus as the Servant-Savior and the attitude He wants us to also have. This attitude is directed toward four different areas of service. He shows us the Servant’s heart toward families, possessions, greatness and those in need. Many of these teachings go against our own human understanding and reason. It is only Jesus’ tender concern for us that shows us how God wants us all to act toward each other.

Prayer Starter: Lord I know that my attitude is often in conflict with what You have taught in Your Word. Forgive me and help me to also have a servant attitude like Yours.

Wednesday

Read: Mark 11

Meditation: We begin to see the peoples’ rejection of Jesus, and Jesus’ response is to talk about faith and fruit. As Jesus looked at the fruit in our lives, what is it He sees? Is it like the fig tree which was all show but no fruit. If Jesus looks for fruit in your life, what will He find?

Prayer Starter: Lord, I give thanks to You for Jesus’ cross that has made it possible for me to produce for You the fruit of righteousness.

Thursday

Read: Mark 12-13

Meditation: These two chapters continue the theme of rejection of Jesus the Servant-Savior, and what it means for those who reject Jesus and for those who do not. Look for them as you read.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I give You thanks that I have not rejected You and Your son. Help me to ever remain faithful to You.

Friday

Read: Mark 14-15

Meditation: Mark tells us of the depths of Jesus’ suffering, crucifixion and death. As you read remember that our eternal destiny hung in the balance as Jesus suffered and died for us. Satan unleashes his total fury against the Son of God, and the outcome would change our personal history forever.

Prayer Starter: Lord, You know all things about me, and still You love me and died for me. I let Your love transform my life forever.

Saturday

Read: Mark 16

Meditation:
Everything God has predicted. Everything Jesus has predicted has come true. Even the disciples don’t understand it all. Jesus is gentle with them for their unbelief and brings them reassurance. Their fear was to be replaced with faith and the world was taken by storm by their boldness.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to have more faith so that my fears will be less and my boldness will be more.
