Monday

Read: Matthew 26-27

Meditation: Time and time again, Matthew has shown what kind of King Jesus is—He is our Servant- King. Nowhere does this fact become more clear than in Matthew’s account of Jesus’ suffering and death. In these two chapters we see King Jesus betrayed and then crucified and He does it for us.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to be still and let You serve me. There is nothing I can do or need to do, for Your death has the power to forgive me completely.

Tuesday

Read: Matthew 28

Meditation: This may sound like a contradiction, but death died when Jesus Christ rose from the grave. We need to savor what our Savior-King has done for us. Jesus is our risen King and now Jesus has commissioned us, His people, to tell the world of this fact.

Prayer Starter: If the power of Your death has brought me forgiveness, I can’t even imagine what power Your resurrection must have. Yet Your power and authority has been shared with the church. Lord, help me to see all that You have done for me.

Wednesday

Read: Mark 1-2

Meditation: Mark’s gospel really clips along. In fact Mark uses the word "immediately" 42 different times. Look for it, but also look how Mark presents Jesus as the Servant who has come to save all people.

Prayer Starter: In humility Lord, You have come to serve. Your compassion for others is an example for me to follow, bur often fail at. Help me Lord to have more compassion for those around me.

Thursday

Read: Mark 3-4

Meditation: Jesus asks a question of the religious leaders, which puts them on the spot. "Is it lawful to love-even on the Sabbath Day?" This question is answered by Jesus’ action and it sets in motion a series of events in which Jesus reveals to the world the upside -down way our servant Jesus looks at relationships, power, and the purpose of life. Be on the lookout for this as you read Mark’s gospel.

Prayer Starter: Jesus, You really care. Help me to care for those whom You love. John 3:16

Friday

Read: Mark 5-6

Meditation: Jesus shows us how much He loves. They would have been considered the dregs of society. Those not worth the trouble, but Jesus sees each person as worthy of His attention and help.

Prayer Starter: Jesus, help me to see the need of those around me, and help me to have the compassion You have shown to me, for others.

Saturday

Read: Mark 7-8

Meditation:
The need of the people is great, and Jesus’ mission carries and urges Him from town to town. Mark accents the urgency of this mission to reach the people while He still can.

Prayer Starter: Lord, help me to deny the "self" for it is my Old nature that would and does drag me back into sin. Help me to live a life of integrity in my new identity as God’s forgiven child.
