Monday

Read: Matthew 5:3-4

Meditation: The first two steps to recovery are:

Step 1. Realize I'm not God v. 3; when I finally can admit I am powerless to control my tendency to do what is wrong and that my life is unmanageable by my own power.

Step 2. Earnestly believe that God does exist v. 4; that I do matter to Him, and that He has the power to help me to recover.

Prayer Starter: Oh God, help me to see that You are my creator and my Lord. Help me to focus on You for You have the power to overcome all things.

Tuesday

Read: Matthew 5:5

Meditation:

Step 3. Consciously Choose to commit; you need to see that your life is not complete until you are willing place it entirely into Christ's care and control.

Prayer Starter: Oh God, help me to turn control of my life over to You. Without You I can do nothing.

Wednesday

Read: Matthew 5:8

Meditation:

Step 4. Openly examine and confess; all of us have our faults and we need to confess them to God, to myself and to someone I trust.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I know that I have not done what I should. Help me to confess all that I have done wrong.

Thursday

Read: Matthew 5:6

Meditation:

Step 5. Voluntarily submit; I need to change everything that God's wants me to change in my life. Humbly ask God to remove all of the character defects that are causing the problems.

Prayer Starter: Dear Lord, help me to change my life so that I can follow You more closely.

Friday

Read: Matthew 5:7 & 9

Meditation:

Step 6. Evaluate all my Relationships. We need to offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for the harm I've done to others, except when to do so would harm them or others.

Prayer Starter: Lord help me to have forgiveness for those who have hurt me.

Saturday

Read: Matthew 5:10

Meditation:

Step 7. Reserve a daily time with God.
Step 8. Yield myself to God to be used. We daily need to have self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life, and to gain the power I need to follow His will. This will help us to bring the Good News to others, both by our example and with the words.

Prayer Starter: Lord be with me as I try to recover from the problems that I have in my life. Send Your Spirit into my life and help me to bring the message of Your forgiveness and grace to others.
