The Road to Recovery
by Ronald Boelte

Throughout history man has always had problems that they could not handle on their own. Even so often they would look toward other means other than God, to help solve them, and often those means were more destructive than the problem itself.

Our society has become more and more complex. Kids now often have three sets of grandparents. Sexual, alcohol, and drug addition for men and women is growing at an exponential rate. Divorce is at an all time high, even for Christians. This and many other problems is the reality of our modern society, and yet many people still look for ways to get through them without God. Don’t get me wrong there are some great programs out there like Alcoholics Anonymous, but even it realizes and has a place for God in its recovery steps. Often however people look to God for help as a last resort and some will never look to God for help. The answer has always been God and the Bible is a great source when we need help and recovery from our problems. This week, we will use the Beatitudes to help us focus on eight different steps to recovery.
