Don't Be Led Astray!

Galatians 4-6

It’s hard to stay focused on Christ even this soon after Easter. Many times, doubt follows the excitement that we have enjoyed in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. Last week we left off with Paul telling us to always remember that it is by faith and not the law that saves us.

That sounds easy enough, but the truth is we have to exercise this faith every day. Just like our bodies, if we quit developing and practicing our faith, it will eventually fail us. This is what has happened to the church in which Paul addresses this letter to. Exercising our faith daily will lead us into a stronger faith in the future.

With that in mind, just like physical exercise, it’s better to exercise our faith with those who share in that faith. It’s good to have people around who will support the weight that you have on your soldiers. This is what we get in our Christian fellowship, therefore making it hard for that weight to overcome us. This is all a part of exercising our faith and confronting and overcoming the doubts that creep into our lives every day.

As you read this week, Paul gives many good illustrations about the faith that has been given to us. You should be able to easily relate to Paul as he gives us this instruction. Understand, there’s always a concern about people becoming overly legalistic or pious. Paul is very concerned for this church, and stresses that when this happens, it could be devastating. Think about this as it pertains to your own lives. Does it happen to you? What are some ways that you may have become too legalistic? Remember, Paul talks about our relationship to Christ as joyful and free, therefore we should not turn away from that. The Christian life is a great one, as long as we don’t let ourselves get in the way.
