The Easter season is such a special time of year. There is so much
energy and excitement that manifests itself within us as we think about
the joy of worshiping our risen Savior, Jesus. The Partners of Lutheran
Ministries had a great time at the many different events that we had.
We were especially joyful about our Son-set service which was new to all of
us. Easter seems to bring us to the highest point of our spirituality.
The problem is that with this joy also comes many hard questions. Most
non-Christians are aware of the teachings that surround Easter. Whether or
not they are asking questions out of interest or out of disagreement,
Christians are faced with these tough questions. The reality is that if we
are not firm in our faith, we can start questioning things that we cannot
answer. Thoughts come into our minds that may cause us to try to negotiate
who Christ really is. The things that we can’t understand can become
even more unbelievable.
This is not a new thing. While many people do come to Christ around
Easter, it’s important to understand that there are still many obstacles
to overcome. In Paul’s letter to the Galatians, this very concept is
addressed. Paul has been very discouraged about the path that the young
Galatian church is beginning to take, and writes this letter to build
their faith and discredit those who are teaching a false Gospel.
There’s only one Gospel for Jesus Christ. We are all taught by that
same Gospel. Whether or not we are Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, etc... we
all believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose again on the third day,
overcoming the power of sin and death for all of us. As you read this
week, think about some of the weak spots that you may have in your faith,
and use your meditation time to look at Paul’s teachings, and rid
yourself of any doubt you may have. The quicker we act on getting rid of
the weak spots in our lives, the stronger foundation we will build.
