About the Author

Christine S. Weerts and her husband, Luke, live in Selma, Alabama, where they are members at Trinity Lutheran Church. Luke is computer technology director at Concordia College and Christine works for a Christian ministry to the poor. She has a master's degree in religion from Concordia University—River Forest, Illinois, and has served as an author for "Portals of Prayer." She and her husband served the disadvantaged in rural Mississippi for six years and were inspired by Concordia's mission to move there and continue their ministry of outreach. Much of what Christine experienced is shared as a frame of reference for these devotions that will take us on our Lenten journey toward Easter.
