We are told in the Bible that Jesus died and took away all of our sins. He
proved He was able to do this when on the third day He rose from that
grave. In the New Testament we are told that He appeared to over five
hundred of His followers.
After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at
the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen
asleep.
- 1 Corinthians 15:6
Because of this fact and many other proofs that He gave to His
followers after His resurrection, we believe that Jesus was the Son of God
and that He has brought redemption to the world and to us. It is not
something that we earn. Jesus and His disciples tell us in the New
Testament that we are redeemed because of God’s grace.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of
sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.
- Ephesians 1:7
However in many different place in the New Testament, we are told that
we have to become one of Jesus’ followers just like the disciples He
called to follow Him 2000 years ago.
