The word, father, has several definitions: priest, god, male parent, founder of something, distinguished person in an organization and others. The word, father, can bring to mind examples or feelings of discipline, authority, care, love, anger, disappointment, honor, pride, fear and many others. Sometimes we limit God in His role as father to our earthly preconceptions and definitions of father. W need to turn to Scripture to see what it really means to have God as a Father?

First of all, God didn’t create the world and then just leave it to go on by itself as some current philosophers try to convince us. The almighty power of God is needed every day to provide for us, to keep us going and to protect us from danger. It is true that the creating power of God is what brought us in to the world, but as our Father, the preserving power of God is what keeps us alive and going.
