OAFC is a 35 year old program that teaches young people how to witness
for Christ. The youth travel on weekends throughout the year to host
churches. Youth from the host church are asked to participate. The weekend
always builds friendship and support between the teens and the adult
sponsors.
The activities begin with Bible study, prayer, skits and music. Once
prepared and strengthened with these tools, the youth canvass the
neighborhoods around the church asking survey questions about the
residents' religious practices. The method learned by the youth is
nonthreatening to both residents and young people. Often, the young people
are able to witness about their own faith and the love of Jesus to the
people they talk to door to door. The youth gather back at the church at
the end of the day to tabulate the results. The information is then given
to the church leaders for follow up of any people interested in hearing
more about Jesus.
It is amazing to watch the youth learn and become empowered in sharing
their faith. Even the most shy youth will be excited and find a way to
participate.
As of this morning and your reading of Partners, the OAFC team is in
our Elk City congregation. They will be preparing to help lead the worship
service. Please keep this youth witnessing program in your prayers. Who
knows, those of you not in the Elk City church, may see them come to your
church, soon.
