What's the Difference?

by Mona Hunter

For those of you who can't remember a time when you didn't know Jesus, take a moment and think about how your life would be different if He wasn't a part of it. Those of you who do remember that time will know what I'm talking about.

  • What kind of things scare you?
  • How does knowing Jesus is with you, help you not be so afraid?
  • How scared would you be if He wasn't with you?
  • Have you had problems in your life that you had no solution for? Did you pray and ask for God's help?
  • How would you have gotten through the problems if you didn't know you could pray or didn't know how to pray?

What about when a loved one died? If they're a believer, you have the hope and promise of knowing you will see them again in heaven celebrating with Jesus and the angels. There are many around us who don't have that assurance. How do they get through it and go on living? What about when guilt overwhelms you for something you've done (or haven't done) that you know was wrong? As a Christian, you can ask God for forgiveness knowing that Jesus has paid the cost of your sin, and you are forgiven. Even people who don't have a relationship with Jesus often feel guilt for things that they've done wrong. How do they get past the guilt and go on living?

The Bible is filled with Words that bring us, as Christians, strength, comfort, peace—even salvation. I'd like to share one passage that touches my heart this morning, "As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He make my feet like the feet of a deer; He enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me Your shield of victory, and Your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great," (Psalm 18:30-35).

There are so many people around us that don't have these blessings from God in their lives. They turn to everything ungodly seeking what we already have–strength, comfort, peace, and salvation. It's why the world is in such a mess. It's why our country is in such a mess. Hey, it's why our little neighborhoods are in such a mess. Do you want it to be different? Do you want others to see the difference that God can make in life? I hope and pray that we all do. It's what the Bible means when it says nine times in nine different verses, "love your neighbor as yourself". The world around us is desperately seeking —and they don't even know what they're looking for. We do!!!! Find a way this week to help someone find or see a glimmer of the different life Jesus wants them to have. Ask someone to church. Offer to pray with or for someone. Just be kind and forgiving to those around you. Bring a child to Bible school in Lone Wolf this week. The possibilities are endless. God will even show them to you if you ask. Does Jesus make a difference? Just ask Him!
