Summer Volunteers
by Mona Hunter
We are blessed, this summer, to have two young women offer to work with
us in our Partnership. Bethany Hilgendorf and Shannon Hunter have
volunteered for all kinds of ‘church work'. Both are here for the summer
break from classes at Concordia University (one of our Lutheran schools)
in Seward, Nebraska. Both are studying to be Directors of Christian
Education.
Beth is originally from Mequon, Wisconsin. Both of her parents work for
the Lutheran University in Mequon. She already has a degree in
Organization Communications from Mequon and is now working on her Master's
in Family Life Ministry. This fall, she will move to Macon, Missouri for
one year's internship. Following that, she will be rostered by the LCMS
and eligible for a call as a Director of Christian Education.
Most of you know Shannon. She has always been a great worker in the
church and is now working for her professional credentials in our Synod.
She will be the interim director of Mother's Day Out this summer as she
was last year.
Perhaps the greatest news for us is that both young women have
volunteered to be co-directors of VBS this summer. Our program is called Jerusalem
Marketplace. VBS in Lone Wolf will be July 18-22. Altus has plans
for a one day camp on August 6 and Elk City is tentatively set for August
13. All volunteers are welcome and needed and Bethany and Shannon look
forward to your help and advice.
